Orquesta ¡OH! Humboldt
A symphonic project promoting the integration between cultures
About us
The ORCHESTRA HUMBOLDT (OH) forms part of the ASOCIACIÓN EURO-VENEZOLANA PARA EL FOMENTO DE ARTES MUSICALES Y ESCÉNICAS EUVEM (Euro-Venezuelan Association for the Promotion of Musical and Performing Arts). The foundation and institutionalization of this new group is the logical and consequent step of a successful artistic collaboration between different orchestras of the National System of Youth Orchestras and Choirs of Venezuela (El Sistema) and the German recorder player and conductor Michael Form in collaboration with double bass player Jonathan Álvarez Cermeño and the cellist Manuel Isaías Hernández, both Venezuelan musicians with a notable presence in the musical life of Spain.
Our name
Alexander von Humboldt, born in Berlin (Germany) in 1769, is one of the great exponents of the link between two worlds. His enthusiasm for nature and explorations led him to South America Venezuela being one of the most researched regions during his journeys where he became an emblematic figure in both scientific and cultural circles.
The pedagogical component
The OH will dedicate an important part of its activities to pedagogical and informative work of music education, with the intention to carry out didactic presentations in schools and conservatories. While the members of the OH will share their knowledge and enthusiasm for classical music with the young generation, they will have the possibility of accessing training at the highest level through master classes and workshops with the greatest teachers promoting the musical and technical evolution of OH itself.
